5,000M Phase 2 Diamond Drill Programme Commences at the Saza Gold Project, Tanzania

Helio Resource Corp. ("Helio" or the "Company") (TSX-V: HRC) is pleased to announce that it has commenced a planned 5,000m Phase 2 diamond drill programme at the Saza gold project, located in the Lupa Goldfields, southwest Tanzania.

The drill programme is designed to confirm continuity and expand mineralization at four targets -- Kenge, Snakebite, Konokono and Cheche - all of which returned very encouraging results from the Phase 1 reverse circulation drill programme completed earlier this year (see Company news releases dated September 6, 2006 and November 6, 2006).

The programme will initially focus on the Kenge and Snakebite targets. Kenge is a 2000m long structurally-controlled target that is host to the colonial-era Razorback Mine. The Snakebite target is located at the intersection of the Kenge and Saza Shear Zones, where Phase 1 RC drilling intersected 8m grading 20.77g/t Au.

Chris MacKenzie, M.Sc., C.Geol., Helio's Chief Operating Officer and a Qualified Person as designated by NI 43-101, will supervise the drilling and quality control programs at Saza and has reviewed the technical content of this news release.
